Van der Poel and Van Aert caught one km from the finish

Jasper Philipsen won the 88th edition of the In Flanders Fields, better known as the Ghent-Wevelgem, run today in Belgium over the distance of 241 km.

A long-distance breakaway with second-rate men was caught on the penultimate pass of the Kemmelberg by Van der Poel, Van Aert and Florian Vermeersch.

The first two also dropped Vermeersch with 35 km to go and seemed to be heading for the finish, but Decathlon, Ineos, and Red Bull worked hard, managing to catch them with just over a kilometer to go. Segaert's attempt also came to nothing: the sprint awarded Philipsen over Andresen.
