The Belgian then defined Lefevere in a very particular way
Second part of the report of the live with Philippe Gilbert on Thursday evening.
Philippe Gilbert knows Evenepoel very well and spoke about his future in the classics: " In my opinion, Remco will do the cobbled classics , certainly the Tour of Flanders, while I don't know about the Roubaix. He hasn't managed to race them yet, but in 2021 he already easily won the Brussels Classic , a small race in the north".
Prompted by the Mullah, Gilbert then spoke about Van Aert : "Sometimes Wout thinks more about putting on a show and going on the breakaway rather than the victory itself; I think he is now very affected by the fall at the Vuelta, it happened to me too with a blow to my knee", then he continued "I think Van Aert will now do well at the Giro and will easily win 2-3 stages ".
Then there was talk of another Belgian in difficulty, namely Arnaud De Lie : "I can't explain what happened to him, despite earning a generous salary he showed up at the races overweight and always dropped out; nowadays we need a different mentality and much more training".
Gilbert was then asked for his opinion on Patrick Lefevere , jokingly called the 'last boss of the cycling mafia': "He had eyes everywhere, he followed all the races, even those running at the same time, like Tirreno-Adriatico and Paris-Nice. One of his flaws was his management of riders at the end of their careers: it happened with Boonen, with Alaphilippe and also with me, so that in the end I went to Lotto, even though I was also willing to be a domestique".
Gilbert concluded by talking about the importance of youth management: "Uijtdebroeks is an example of a guy who trained too much at a young age. Guys need to improve year after year, they shouldn't be at the peak of their career at 19 or 20."
