Lennart Jasch (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) won the second stage of the Giro d'Abruzzo, from Popoli Terme to Caramanico Terme (143 km).
The initial five-man breakaway was caught by the main group with about fifteen kilometers to go. Immediately afterward, on the Scagnano climb, a three-man counterattack began, with Scalco , Bais , and Jasch gaining an advantage.
The trio didn't break away, but were kept under fire by the group, but in the final kilometer, Jasch relaunched his attack and went on to win alone.
The group sprinted to a 9-second lead, with Godon and Scalco finishing on the podium of the day.
In terms of the general classification, Fancellu managed to defend the leader's jersey from Jasch's assault by just 4".
