Fifth stage of the Tour du Dauphiné : 191.1 km from Cormoranche-sur-Saône to Salins-les-Bains. The six-man breakaway, made up of Pollit , Zimmerman , Gregaard , De Gendt , Boasson Hagen and Heinschke, resumed on the Cote de Thesy, the last climb of the day with a brow 14 km from the finish. At the beginning of the climb the yellow jersey Bjerg falls , while Carapaz attacks decisively : only Vingegaard manages to keep the wheel of the Ecuadorian and then detaches him 1 kilometer from the top. The reigning champion of the Tour de France makes a vacuum and passes on the gpm with a 40” margin over the group with the best. In the following downhill section, the Dane manages to keep the advantage and reaches the finish line alone: for him the stage victory and the yellow jersey. The sprint for second place is won by Alaphilippe, Johannessen closes the podium.
