Alessandro Covi (UAE Team Emirates) wins the first stage of the Giro di Abruzzo (2.1), from Scerni to Crecchio (151km).
In the last 20 km an attack by 8 men scared the group, but they managed to catch up with the escapees 7 km from the finish.
UAE Team Emirates takes over the operations in the final, with the last kilometer tending to go uphill. Covi attacks at -300 meters, after the great work of Oliveira : no one manages to take his wheel, who triumphs ahead of Fiorelli and Fancellu.
