Van den Berg's double win: stage win and leader's jersey at the Tour de Luxembourg

A true 'dubbelslag,' as they say in Holland: a double blow, sharp and relentless. Marijn van den Berg (EF Education-EasyPost) made his mark on the second stage of the Tour de Luxembourg , launching his sprint from an almost provocative distance in Junglinster . The result? Not only a stage win, but also the overall leader's jersey, a remarkable feat for the 27-year-old Dutchman.

Van den Berg charged up the group on the right side of the road with impressive progression, even seriously challenging stage one winner Mathieu van der Poe (Alpecin-Premier Tech). The Dutch phenomenon attempted to respond, coming off the wheel to try and catch up, but his legs gave out in the finale: he finished fifth, also missing out on the bonus points.

Completing the trio on the stage podium were Timo Kielich (Visma-Lease a Bike) and Pierre Gautherat (Decathlon CMA CGM), two names that deserve attention.

Thanks to the 10-second bonus earned with the victory, Van den Berg now leads the overall standings by 4 seconds over Gautherat, while Van der Poel remains tied with the Frenchman. The standings therefore remain wide open, with very narrow margins.
