The group approaches the final ascent compactly, the wind and the pace imposed by Team Jayco AlUla do not favor attacks . At least two from the finish, the UAE Team Emirates men take over the race and decidedly thin out the group , Diego Ulissi , with a great move, creates the hole in favor of his mate Fisher-Black Finn who takes advantage of the situation; no one manages to close the action and the New Zealander born in 2001 goes on to win alone.

The group sprint was won by Albanese (Astana Qazaqstan Team), 3rd place for Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates).
