The Dane flies uphill and precedes Gall and Ayuso; 4th Evenepoel
First uphill finish in the third stage of the Tour of Switzerland , starting in Tafers and finishing in Villars-sur-Ollon. The peloton is compact as they approach the final 10.7km long ascent at 7.8% average gradient. On the climb, Remco Evenepoel 's Soudal-Quick Step sets the pace; just the world champion breaks the delay by attacking 6.5 km from the conclusion: only Gall and Skjelmose manage to follow his acceleration. At -2.5 km Gall sets off and, immediately after, also Skjelmose, while behind, a quintet made up of Ayuso, Bilbao, Uijtdebroeks, Uran and Kelderman, catches Evenepoel who even risks breaking away in the last kilometre. The decisive action is by Mattias Skjelmose who attacks without even waiting for the sprint and scores one-two with stage victory and yellow jersey. Gall takes second place, while Ayuso closes the podium of the day thanks to a good second part of the climb.
