Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick Step) wins the eighteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Fai della Paganella to Pieve di Soligo (168 km).
After several attempts, a relatively dangerous breakaway consisting of Geens , Shaw , Bais, and Misfud was able to break away. In the pink jersey group, Lidl-Trek kept the race closed, leaving very little margin for the attackers.
With 48 km to go, the white jersey's Eulalio crashed in the feed zone and suffered a nasty blow to his elbow. However, the Portuguese managed to rejoin the group a few kilometers later.
At 22 km the breakaway is caught and the group heads towards the Muro di Ca' del Poggio.
Only Eulalio sets out on the Wall, but Visma keeps him under control.
In the final stages, the group, which had been split in two, came together again and the sprinters' teams also blocked the further attempt by Kulset and Eulalio .
Stuyven works perfectly for Magnier who launches the sprint and wins over Zambanini and Milan .
