Second place for Milan, despite a mechanical problem in the last kilometers

Last stage of the Giro d'Italia 2024 with the twenty-first stage in Rome of 125 km.
Baudin, Marcellusi, Costiou and Honorè attempted the attack 70 km from the end, managing to accumulate a maximum advantage of 40" over the pink jersey group.
The action of the four was stopped just before the last lap, 13 km from the finish. Right at the beginning of the last lap a mechanical problem forces Milan to have to change bikes and chase the group.
Milan manages to return and Lidl-Trek organize their train for the last 2 km. Merlier launches the sprint, Milan tries to follow, but does not have the energy necessary to succeed in overtaking.
The Belgian then wins the last stage in Rome; Milan and Groves placed on the podium of the day.
