Third success for the blue in the thirteenth stage
Thirteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia, from Riccione to Cento, for a total of 179 km.
Three men on the run from the early stages: Pietrobon, Tonelli and Tarozzi. The section, very easy on paper, moves around 50 km from the end with some fans that split the group. The situation calms down about 15 km later with the group regrouping.
The stage flows until the last kilometers without other noteworthy events. In the technical and tortuous final, Merlier 's Soudal-QuickStep and then Milan 's Lidl-Trek work first; on the final straight the first to start is Gaviria, but the Italian in the cyclamen jersey starts at -300 meters and dominates Cento's sprint.
Behind Milan are Aniolkowski and Bahuaus , while Groves and Merlier remain outside the top ten, despite a great work by their teams during the day.
Tomorrow the 31.2 km time trial in Desenzano del Garda, decisive for the general classification.
