Giro d'Italia, stage 20: sixth victory for Tadej Pogacar!

The Slovenian also triumphs solo in the Monte Grappa stage

Penultimate stage of the Giro d'Italia from Alpago to Bassano del Grappa with the double climb of Monte Grappa.

Eight riders (Ballerini, Theuns, Sanchez, Pietrobon, Tonelli, Fernandez, Germani and Jansses) break away and approach the first climb with a 4' margin on the pink jersey group. UAE Team Emirates works for Pogacar without however giving strong accelerations; Pellizzari sprints 2 km from the first hilltop and manages to reach Tonelli and Sanchez, the last survivors of the morning's escape.

Pellizzari himself remains alone in the lead as soon as the second climb begins, with a 2'30" advantage over the group. The work of Grosschartner and Novak reduces the disadvantage, from the Bardiani rider, around the minute mark, 6 km from the summit. Among the riders in the top ten break away prematurely, Zana and Bardet.

Majka 's attack puts Arensman, O'Connor and Thomas in crisis. Pogacar attacks 5 km from the GP and, as usual, leaves all his rivals behind. Behind him a trio is formed consisting of Tiberi , Martinez and Rubio .

The Slovenian catches up, overtakes Pellizzari and takes off towards his sixth victory in this Giro d'Italia. Along the descent the pursuers regroup with V. Paret-Peintre who leads the group in the sprint and takes second place of the day ahead of Martinez .

Tomorrow the twenty-first and final stage in Rome, with a probable sprint finish.
