Elisa Longo Borghini wins the fourth stage of the women's Giro d'Italia , from Fidenza to Borgo Val di Taro of 134 km. The Italian champion surpasses Veronica Ewers and the leader of the general classification Annemiek Van Vleuten .

Stage characterized by the attack of the Dutch cyclist Ilse Pluimers, who with 30 km to go has an advantage of around 30” over the American Veronica Ewers (sixth in the general classification, 55” behind Van Vleuten) and 1' over the peloton.  

In the final the decisive action of Longo Borghini, with only Ewers and Van Vleuten to keep up the pace. In fourth place, at 40” comes Lorena Wiebes, ahead of Marianne Vos.

In the general classification, Annemiek Van Vleuten precedes Elisa Longo Borghini by 49” and the American Ewers by 53”.
