Vas wins the eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia women of 125 km with departure from Nuoro and arrival in Sassari.

Everything is decided in the last few kilometres, slightly uphill: Schrempf and Van der Heiden are the first to attempt to stretch, without success. The group is very small in the last thousand meters. The final sprint is launched from a very long distance by Paladin, with Blanka Vas winning ahead of Dygert and Lippert .
