Guangxi Tour, stage 5: Fretin's encore

Milan Fretin (Cofidis) wins the fifth stage of the Guangxi Tour from Jinchengjiang to Yizhou (170.1km).

Another day, another fast-paced stage in the Chinese race, with a six-man breakaway that broke away in the early stages, consisting of Sutterlin, Gamper, Rivera, Walker, Formolo and Veistroffer : the latter sealed the climbers' jersey.

The leaders were caught 13 km from the finish, with Visma decisively taking the lead of the group in the final completely flat kilometres.

The dramatic turn of events in the sprint was the crash of two of the race's leading lights, with Magnier and Biesterbos falling in the final 500 meters. Fretin capitalized, securing his second victory, beating Blikra and Moschetti .
