Torres ready to surprise; Teutenberg and Andresen for the sprints
Tonight the 2025 cycling season gets underway with the first stage of the Tour Down Under, an Australian race with an unexceptional start list, but often an interesting way to study the most promising young riders for the rest of the year.
Pablo Torres , Spanish climber for UAE Team Emirates, 2nd at the Avenir 2024, is ready to follow in the footsteps of Del Toro who, in Australia, made his name in the cycling world with a stage victory and 3rd place in the general classification.
Another intriguing name is that of Graat , a Dutchman from Team Visma, who, after two excellent years among the amateurs, has been promoted to the first team; the 2003 class has shown great numbers on the rise, as has Albert Philipsen , a very young 2006 Danish, former Junior World Champion.
Making his WT debut is Tim Torn Teutenberg , a German sprinter from Lidl-Trek, ready to battle in the bunch sprints. The same goes for Andresen , even though the Dane is already in his second year among the 'big boys' and has achieved good placings throughout 2024.
Even EF's Nerukrar now seems ready to make the leap in quality: a rider suited to short climbs and explosive finishes, a couple of stages fit his characteristics perfectly.
Finally, we mention two young Italians , namely Skerl and Raccagni Noviero; the two seem to be slightly behind their peers, but they could try to place themselves in some fast finishes.
We remind you that the classification for the white jersey will be reserved for U21 riders, that is, those born from 2003 onwards.
