Roglic and Ayuso fall, the Slovenian still remains in the yellow jersey
Quinten Hermans wins the third stage of the Itzulia Basque Country from Ezpeleta to Altsasu of 190.9 km. The Alpecin rider Deceuninck precedes Edoardo Zambanini and Alex Aranburu in the sprint.
Race leader Primoz Roglic falls 37 km from the finish line. The Slovenian hits the right side of his body and appears dazed, but sets off again escorted by his teammates Sobrero and Buchmann. The main group slows down and waits with fair play for the yellow jersey which returns 26 km from the end.
8 km from the finish line, after the flying finish won by Remco Evenepoel , three riders, Soler, Oliveira and Gorka Izagirre, attempt to attack, but are caught again 5 km later.
One kilometer from the end, a bad fall breaks up the group: Juan Ayuso gets the worst of it and remains on the ground in pain, but then manages to reach the finish line: his condition needs to be assessed. Then in the sprint Hermans precedes everyone, with Aranburu starting first, but he is unable to maintain his advantage and is also overtaken by Zambanini. The sprint of another Italian runner, Davide De Pretto, was also good, arriving in fourth place.
Primoz Roglic keeps the yellow jersey and remains leader of the general classification.
