First Italian to win a Junior-U23 world title again
While waiting for the Elite races, Lorenzo Finn confirms himself as the best news for Italian cycling in the expedition to Rwanda.
The Genoese rider repeated his success in the Junior category in Zurich last year, also winning the U23 world title: he is the first Italian ever to achieve the double .
Finn was the youngest to start the race and, more importantly, at 18 years and 281 days, he is the youngest ever to win the world championship in his category, beating the previous record held by Mohoric (the last to win the Junior-U23 world championships twice in 2012-2013).
The Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe Rookies rider confirmed that he will continue in the Under 18s next year, without forcing the stages and continuing his growth path.
The 2007-born rider is undoubtedly the best hope for the Italian team's future, both in the toughest classics and in stage races, but given his young age, it's right not to put excessive pressure on a boy who has already proven to be truly strong.
