Great performance by the nineteen year old Frenchman who beats Woods and Carr

The fifth edition of the race was shortened due to safety issues related to bad weather: the organizers, given the forecast of hail in the afternoon, decided to cut one of the two ascents of Mont Ventoux and to reduce the mileage to 98.3 km.

The last 5 kilometers of the climb are the hardest, with an average gradient above 8%. The first attack attempts follow one another right at the beginning of this stretch.

With 3 km to go to the finish only four remain in command: Woods , C.Rodriguez , L.Martinez and Carr . Ivan Sosa , climbing at his own pace, manages to get back on top of the race, while Michael Woods is unleashed and continues to accelerate, without however being able to detach his rivals. These five riders compete for victory: Lenny Martinez triumphs thanks to a shot at the right moment , the Frenchman anticipates Woods and Carr. Pozzovivo, best of the Italians, finished in seventh place.
