The Italian women's road cycling championship takes place in Comano Terme over a course of 148 km, with a final circuit to be repeated four times.

During the penultimate lap, 30 km from the end, the forcing of Realini (Trek Segafredo) allows the group, already very selected, to reabsorb the three escapees of the day: Pirrone, Masetti and Cecchini.

On the last climb, four remain in command: Realini, Longo Borghini, Cavalli and Persico. Repeated attack attempts followed with Gaia Realini who at first managed to detach her opponents, then, near the brow, she was picked up and detached by Longo Borghini and Persico.

On the subsequent descent, the quartet regroups thanks to a great work by Marta Cavalli. The final sprint was resolved with a splendid head-to-head between Persico and Longo Borghini, with the latter managing to resist her rival's comeback attempt and beating her by a few centimetres. For the Trek Segafredo athlete this is the third national title on the road after the successes of 2020 and 2021. Cavalli instead takes the lowest step of the podium, while Realini is crowned Italian U23 champion being the first in the category to cross the finish line of Comano Terme.
