Solo escape for the Dane, Merlier and Milan on the podium

Mads Pedersen won the 87th edition of Ghent-Wevelgem, run today over the distance of 250.3 km.

The Dane, who had already won the Belgian classic last year and in 2020, dominated, arriving only at the finish line after an action that started more than 70 km from the finish. After reaching some men in the breakaway, Pedersen dropped them and then maintained an advantage of about 1'30" over the group. His teammates, Lidl Trek, did an excellent job in blocking the attempts to close the gap.

Also on the podium of the day were Tim Merlier, second, and Jonathan Milan third.
