Lots of climbers at the start: four uphill finishes, two time trials (one of which is a hill climb) and no group sprint planned

The Tour de Suisse 2024 will open on 9 June, with a 4.7 km prologue time trial, coinciding with the last stage of the Tour of the Dauphiné: there are therefore obligatory choices for the riders who will not be able to exchange the riders taking part in the French race.

The second and third stages appear, in terms of altitude, very similar, with choppy finishes and with the last hilltops about ten kilometers from the finish line, without however the presence of long, hard climbs.

The following four stages feature as many uphill finishes and will decide a large part of the general classification , which will definitively emerge with the final hill climb : 10.2 km will be added to the initial 5 km on the flat at an average of 8.2%. It should be noted that the main stage, the sixth, was heavily shortened and reduced to 42 km in total, due to too much snow falling on the Nufenen Pass.

A route that seems designed perfectly for climbers: among the big favorites we find Skjelmose , winner last year, Carapaz, A.Yates and Bernal .

However, there are numerous riders who could compete for the top ten and, perhaps, even a place on the podium, such as Lenny Martinez, Uijtdebroeks, the two UAE Almeida and Del Toro, Mas and Gall.

No pure sprint planned , but the second and third stages are suitable for runners resistant uphill and with a good quick start, among these we mention Pidcock , De Lie, Van Gils , Nys , Laurance, Albanese , Williams, Coquard, Bettiol , Hayter and Matthews.
