Vingegaard number one favourite. Challenge Merlier-Philipsen for the sprints
The Tirreno-Adriatico 2024 will start on Monday with the time trial in Lido di Camaiore. There are 7 stages planned, 3 of which are suitable for a group sprint finish, one for fast riders capable of resisting uphill climbs and two mountain stages which will decide the general classification, in addition to the opening individual time trial of 10 km. The fifth and sixth stage will respectively see the climbs of San Giacomo and, above all, that of Monte Petrano (10 km at 8% average).
Jonas Vingegaard will make his debut in the WT this season and looks like the big favorite to win the general classification. Juan Ayuso seems to be the only rider capable of worrying the Dane. Immediately behind there are numerous riders who will be able to aspire to a place on the podium such as Dani Martinez , O'Connor , Uijtdebroeks , Geoghegan Hart and the Italian Tiberi . Other names that could surprise in terms of the general classification are: Hindley, Del Toro, Mas, Vaquelin, Carapaz and Sheffield.
Several stage hunters present, such as Zana, Kamna, Healy, Pidcock, and Bardet, who will have to decide whether to aim for a partial success or whether to try to stay in the rankings.
Among the sprinters present we recommend Philipsen and Merlier , who will be the big favorites in every sprint, then Girmay, Milan, Bauhaus, Dainese and Mayrhofer.
