Primož Roglič was hit by a car during a training session and will be forced to withdraw from the Clásica San Sebastián and the Vuelta a Burgos , the two races that were supposed to serve as a launch pad for the Vuelta a España . The Slovenian rider announced the news himself on his Instagram profile, showing a large hematoma on the back of his leg.

"A car took me a few days ago..." wrote Roglič, who fortunately appears to have escaped without serious consequences. The Slovenian champion immediately wanted to reassure fans and enthusiasts: his participation in the Vuelta remains confirmed. "I won't be participating in San Sebastián and Burgos, unfortunately... it's not the best scenario, but that's life. Now everything is geared towards La Vuelta, we're working and hoping that things will sort themselves out!"

For cycling fantasy fans, this is news to keep a close eye on. Roglič will be arriving at the Vuelta without the traditional preparation races, which could impact his form in the early stages. However, the Slovenian veteran is accustomed to dealing with the unexpected: just think of the crashes and injuries he's overcome throughout his career. His recovery ability is extraordinary, but the lack of test races could make him less predictable in the early stages of the Spanish race.
