Spaniard wins race, two Italians on podium

Juan Ayuso wins the sixth stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico from Cartoceto to Frontignano , 163 km.

Eight riders attempt to break away: Gianni Vermeersch, Benjamin Thomas, Andrea Vendrame, Samuele Battistella, Jasper Stuyven, Chris Hamilton, Andrea Pietrobon and Magnus Cort . With 70 km to go, the attackers have a lead of about 4' on the blue jersey group.

When the leading group reaches the start of the final climb, they have an advantage of about a minute over the group led first by the men of Red Bull Bora and then by the UAE .

Del Toro 's push puts the Italian Ganna in difficulty, who breaks away with 4.4 km to go.

Ayuso attacks a hundred meters later, when the best catch Andrea Vendrame, the last escapee. Behind the Spaniard are Pidcock, Hindley, Landa, and Healy while Tiberi   and Gee seem more in difficulty.

Then, with 3.3 km to go, Ayuso attacks again and this time no one can follow him.

The Spaniard from UAE Team Emirates thus reached the finish line alone , winning the stage and also the Tirreno-Adriatico, taking home the blue jersey as leader of the general classification.

Second place for Tom Pidcock, while third place goes to Jai Hindley. Ganna, instead, arrives 51” seconds behind the leader.

Tiberi moves into second place in the overall standings at 37”, while Ganna comes in third at 38” from Ayuso.

Tomorrow will be the last stage, for sprinters, arriving in San Benedetto del Tronto.
