Escape to the finish line for a handful of metres: 2nd Eenkhoorn, 3rd Abrahamsen
After the alpine efforts, the Tour offers a stage without particular altitude difficulties: the eighteenth stage, from Mouitiers to Bourg-en-Bresse, in fact winds along 184.9 km with only two fourth category gpm and a perfect finish for fast wheels.
Asgreen , Campenaerts , Eenkhoorn and Abrahamsen try to break away putting the yellow jersey group to the test: in fact, with 10 km to go, the quartet still has a margin of over 20”. Politt's hard work brought the group closer together, but the four forwards collaborated up to the last hundreds of meters when Asgreen set off with perfect times , anticipated his breakaway companions and managed to precede the return of the sprinters by a hair's breadth.
The yellow jersey group is regulated by the usual Philipsen who definitively locks up his green jersey. No change in the general classification; tomorrow another opportunity for the sprinters who will try not to be fooled again by the breakaway.
