Tomorrow the second day of rest at the Grande Boucle

After the victory of Wout Van Aert in Lausanne today the Tour de France reaches the ninth stage, from Aigle to Châtel les portes du Soleil of 192.9 km . A more demanding stage than yesterday, with four mountain grand prix, two of which in the first category placed in the final part of the route. The finish will then be uphill again (even if there will be no GPM at the finish), with the penultimate kilometer at 7% gradient.

The first ascent of the day will be the Côte de Bellevue (4.3 km at 4%), then the Col des Mosses , a 13.3 km long second category climb with an average gradient of 4.1% that precedes the Col de la Croix (8.1 km at 7.6%). The subsequent long descent will bring the runners back to Aigle, at kilometer 153, from where about fifteen kilometers of plain will lead to the ascent of Pas de Morgins (15.4 km at 6.1%). The first 11 kilometers of ascent are the most demanding, with gradients of up to 8.9%.

A stage suitable for a breakaway for many riders, and considering that tomorrow will be the second day of rest, many will try to attack.

Possible winners include runners such as Michael Woods, Alexey Lutsenko, Bauke Mollema, Jakob Fuglsang, Matej Mohoric, Warren Barguil and Tim Wellens , men who are suited to one-day races and who can fit into a breakaway.

Also not to be underestimated are the bora trio Schachmann , Konrad and above all Kämna . The latter was close to victory at the Super Planche des Belles Filles , and is in the right physical condition to aim for a stage success in this Tour de France .
