Pogacar in the yellow jersey remains the favorite

After Tadej Pogacar 's show of strength at the finish in Longwy , today is the turn of one of the most anticipated stages of this Tour de France , with the arrival on the Super Planche des Belles Filles .

Departure from Tomblaine for a total of 176.3 km, the route does not foresee particular difficulties apart from the final ascent. The first mountain grand prix will be the Col de Grosse Pierre, after about 70 km (3rd cat., 3.1 km at 6.4%). After about twenty kilometers the runners will tackle the Col du Ménil and then the Col des Croix (3rd cat., 3.2 km at 6.3%), with the summit at kilometer 136.1.

Then the final climb, the Super Planche des Belles Filles , a first category GPM of 7 km with an average gradient of 8.7% , but which rarely drops below 9% and with peaks of 24% in the final meters.

It is likely that today's stage is good for a breakaway, but it will be another golden opportunity for the new yellow jersey Tadej Pogacar to strengthen his leadership, while the other contenders for the general classification will have to try to react. The most credited rival remains Jonas Vingegaard of Jumbo Visma , in addition to his teammate Primoz Roglic (to be evaluated after the dislocation of the shoulder suffered during the fifth stage). Also expected are the men of Team Ineos , Thomas , Yates and Martinez , as well as Vlasov , leader of Bora Hansgrohe . The French are hoping for David Gaudu and Romain Bardet , while attention to Nairo Quintana who seems to have arrived in this Tour de France in excellent physical condition.
