Joao Almeida says goodbye to the Tour de France.
The UAE Team Emirates rider suffered a terrible crash at the end of the seventh stage. Despite his attempts to stay in the race, Almeida was forced to give up with 84 km to go on the ninth stage from Chinon to Châteauroux and moved to the team car.
The Tour thus loses one of its key protagonists and favorites for the final podium. Furthermore, Pogacar will be without his best climbing ally and a key man for the third week.
