Cavendish and Girmay on the podium of the day
Jasper Philipsen won stage seven of the Tour de France, 169km from Mont de Marsan to Bordeaux. After two mountain stages and a lot of entertainment, today's race was more relaxed also thanks to a route without difficulty.
Simon Guglielmi goes into solitary breakaway, then being caught up and detached by Pierre Latour and Nans Peters. The peloton catches them at -6 from the finish with the sprinters' teams working to bring the sprinters into a good position. In the end it was once again the Belgian from Alpecin who crossed the finish line first (it was his third victory in the Tour) ahead of Mark Cavendish , one step away from overtaking Eddy Merckx in stage victories, and Biniam Girmay .
Excellent fourth place for Luca Mozzato . Jonas Vingegaard keeps the yellow jersey.
