Binaim Girmay wins the second stage of the Tour of Switzerland from Beromünster to Nottwil of 173.7 km. The Eritrean Intermarché rider Circus Wanty precedes Arnaud Démare (Groupama FDJ) and Wout Van Aert (Team Jumbo Visma) in the sprint.

The stage is characterized by the attack of two riders, the Swiss Michael Schar (AG2R Citroen) and the Canadian Nicholas Zukowsky (Q 36.5 Pro Cycling Team).

The fugitives don't accumulate a considerable advantage (1'15” with 40 km to go) and are inexorably caught up by the peloton. Then the sprint with Van Aert starting 400 meters from the finish, but was overtaken by momentum by Girmay who resisted Démare's comeback and also Peter Sagan 's comeback attempt.
