The Dutchwoman attacks 44km from the finish line and triumphs alone
Immediately a big surprise in the first WT race of 2025, with the victory of Daniek Hengeveld ( CERATIZIT-WNT Pro Cycling Team) in stage number one of the Women's Tour Down Under.
The Dutch athlete attacked with a good 44 km to go and managed to build up a maximum advantage of 2'30". The sprinters' teams organised themselves badly and very late and Hengeveld triumphed with more than 30 seconds on the main group.
The sprint for second place was won by Wollaston ahead of Schweinberger .
