Juan Pedro Lopez retains the overall leader's jersey

Simon Carr wins the fourth stage of the Tour of the Alps from Laives to Borgo Valsugana of 141.3 km.

The race comes alive from the early stages thanks to a breakaway of 11 riders in which the names of Higuita, Carthy, Carr and Piganzoli stand out. Juan Pedro Lopez's group leaves room for the attackers without being interested in winning the stage.

On the Vetriolo Pass Carr manages to leave alone, separating his breakaway companions, with Higuita and Piganzoli the last to give up. Carr goes on to win solo at the finish line in Borgo Valsugana; behind him, over a minute later, Storer wins the sprint of the best, beating O'Connor .

Lopez maintains the overall leader's jersey with 38" on O'Connor and 48" on Tiberi.
