Nans Peters wins the Laigueglia Trophy after a splendid solo action; second place for another AG2R rider, Andrea Vendrame , ahead of Alessandro Covi .

Difficult race, characterized by rain, in which the French Nans Peters (AG2R Citroen) attempts the solo in the last 30 km, chased by a small group of eight riders: Alessandro Covi (UAE Team Emirates), Lorenzo Rota (Intermarché Circus Wanty), Natnael Tesfatsion (Trek-Segafredo), Romain Gregoire (Groupama FDJ), Benoit Cosnefroy (AG2R Citroen), Alexander Cepeda and Andrea Piccolo (EF), Clément Champoussin and Ewen Costiou (Arkea Samsic).  

10 km from the finish, the Frenchman has an advantage of about a minute over his pursuers, when Covi tries to extend from his pursuers, trying to get back to the man in command, together with Gregoire and Cepeda. Incidentally, the UAE Team Emirate rider uses teammate Bennett's bike after crashing earlier.

In the last 5 km, Andrea Vendrame, Peters' teammate, also gets back on his pursuers, who helps to break the changes.  

However, nothing to do for the pursuers, with Nans Peters who arrives alone at the finish line and teammate Andre Vendrame who wins the sprint for second place.
