Lots of sprinters present, remember to line up your formation
Who will be Tadej Pogacar's successor on the UAE Tour? The time has come to find out because tomorrow, Monday 20 February, the fifth edition of the race won by the Slovenian in the last two years starts. This time Pogacar has changed plans but his team, the UAE Emirates, starts under the odds to try to win their home race again.
Adam Yates and Jay Vine are the men to beat, in particular the Briton who is making his debut with the new team and who has already won a first and two second places in the Emirates. The Australian, winner of the Tour Down Under, will support. Attention also to Brandon McNulty and Marc Soler , able to blow up the racing dynamics at any moment.
Remco Evenepoel will also be at the start, still looking for the best conditions. The world champion starts among the favorites for the final victory, aware that he is always the center of attention. At his side is Mauro Schmid, who already appeared in great shape in the first outings of the season.
The long wait to know the rest of the formations is about to end: at the moment, for a good placement in the general classification, we mention Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious), Sepp Kuss (Jumbo Visma), Andreas Leknessund (Team Dsm), Geoffrey Bouchard (Ag2R ), Luke Plapp and Ben Tulett (Ineos) without underestimating Jakob Fuglsang (Israel). But we expect at least another 2-3 names to keep an eye on such as, for example, Antonio Tiberi (Trek Segafredo) and the expert Wout Poels (Bahrain Victorious).
The usual advice to the fantasy managers before setting up the formation, fifteen minutes before the start: check the updated participants on the app and play your game!
The certainty is the presence of almost all the strongest sprinters in the world: the latest addition was Olav Kooij but there will also be Arnaud Demare, Mark Cavendish, Caleb Ewan, Fernando Gaviria, Dylan Groenewegen, Tim Merlier, Sam Bennett, Phil Bauhaus, Elia Viviani, Juan Sebastian Molano, Gerben Thijssen and Sam Welsford , revelation of the Vuelta San Juan where he won two stages.
The course features four flat stages, the two usual uphill finishes of Jebel Jais and Jebel Hafeet (last stage) and the new 17km team time trial on day two.
