Wout Van Aert ha vinto la prima tappa del Giro del Delfinato, da La Voulte-sur-Rhône a Beauchastel di 191.8 km. Il corridore della Jumbo Visma è anche il primo leader della classifica generale. 

Pronti, via ed è subito fuga per tre corridori: Pierre Rolland, Maxime Bouet e Laurens Huys. Il gruppo non lascia molto vantaggio e li riprende a poco più di trenta chilometri dal traguardo. A uscire di scena per il successo finale ci sono anche Dylan Groenewegen e Phil Bauhaus, rimasti attardati lungo la Côte du Chambon de Bavas, affrontata due volte nel circuito conclusivo. 

Nella volata finale Van Aert mantiene i pronostici della vigilia battendo Ethan Hayter (Ineos Grenadiers) e Sean Quinn (Ef Education Easy Post).
