There is still one major tour to race, La Vuelta , as well as the World Championship and the Giro di Lombardia .
People are starting to talk about the Spanish stage race, while we wait to understand who the protagonists will be, given that Pogacar , Vingegaard and Evenepoel , the three riders who made up the podium of the last Tour de France, will not be there.
The organizers of La Vuelta , however, hope that Juan Ayuso will be there, forced to retire at the last Tour: “Some time ago the UAE told us that he would not do the Vuelta, then that, after his early withdrawal from the Tour, there could be a chance - Javier Guillén , race director of La Vuelta , told AS - As of today we have no news, but we must consider that the teams are now designated in advance and that the riders have already done their training. However, we are a Spanish race and for this reason I ask the UAE to bring us Ayuso. I ask this with affection, with courtesy and understanding every aspect of the issue. Both the rider, the race and also Spain need Ayuso to be at the start of the Vuelta 2024”.
In addition to the Spanish talent, Guillen hopes that there will be other big names, perhaps disappointed or injured from the Tour: “I trust that PrimoĹľ RogliÄŤ will be there in the end,” GuillĂ©n continued. “We are counting on it, although it is clear that he will only come if he is in condition to face the race. We know, however, that Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe will bring a well-equipped team and that UAE will come with a team that has great potential to win, with Adam Yates , who could be one of the candidates to do so. Richard Carapaz (Ef Education-EasyPost) will be there, who is always a showman, and I am optimistic about the participation of Carlos RodrĂguez (Ineos), for how he finished the Tour and for his recent statements.”
