Richard Carapaz wins the 151.7 km fourth stage of the Tour de Romandie from Saillon to Leysin.

A breakaway of five runners moves in the first tens of kilometers of the race; on the ascents of Les Rives and Les Giettes, Berthet remains alone in the lead, with 1'30" ahead of Ayuso's group led by the men of Ineos Grenadiers.

With 10 km to go, on the final climb, the Frenchman still holds about a minute on the group. Four kilometers later, thanks to Arensman's action, Berthet was reabsorbed by the group of the best.

Bernal is the first to attack and is followed by only about ten riders, with Ayuso left without teammates. A surprising Lipowitz accelerates and leaves together with Carapaz and Rodriguez, while Ayuso breaks away and goes into crisis .

Carapaz launches the decisive attack 2 km from the summit and goes on to win alone, however risking an incredible comeback at the end by Lipowitz . Carlos Rodriguez takes the third podium and goes in the yellow jersey with only 7" on Vlasov and 9" on Lipowitz.

Tomorrow the last stage with the Oron circuit: on paper it will be difficult to make a difference, but we will see if the two BORA Hansgrohe riders will try to overtake Rodriguez in the general classification.
