Herregodts, on the run, caught on the finish line
Christophe Laporte won the 158 km first stage of the Dauphiné in the sprint, with start and finish in Chambon sur Lac.
Unlucky Rune Herregodts , last to give up in the breakaway of the day: the Belgian of Intermarché was caught practically on the finish line and finished third also behind Matteo Trentin. Laporte is the first leader of the general classification.
Worth noting is the withdrawal, due to a crash, of Ethan Hayter , the great favorite of today and of next Wednesday's time trial.
