Line up your team and win: route and favourites
The 111th edition of the Liège–Bastogne–Liège, the fourth Monument Classic of the season, will take place on Sunday 27 April, and will follow a route faithful to tradition. This year's route measures 252 kilometres, seven less than in 2024, but it maintains its charm and toughness, with most of the eleven climbs concentrated in the second part of the race.
The race will be decisive for many of the special Fantacycling Leagues: from the La Doyenne League dedicated only to Liège (225 fantamillions for nine riders, gifts for the first five classified) to the closing of the Ardennes League up to the Challenge Gilbert League which will decree its winner. Are you ready to field your team?
The start will be as usual from the Quai des Ardenne, with the first kilometres characterised by undulating but not prohibitive roads. The first real difficulty will arrive soon, with the Côte de Saint-Roch after 70 km of racing — an early placement not seen for over twenty years. Shortly after, at km 83.5, the route will touch Bastogne to begin the return towards Liège.
The first obstacle on the climb will be the Col de Haussire, which returns to the race after a long absence since 1995. From there on, the final 100 km will be a concentration of difficulties, with nine climbs close together, including the classic Côte de la Redoute, the Côte des Forges (which is however run in the opposite direction to the start of the race) and the Roche-aux-Faucons, 13 km from the finish, a crucial point for the ambitions of victory.
On the front of the favorites, the duel announced is between Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step). But watch out for surprises: Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek), already a protagonist at the Amstel Gold Race, could enter the fight, especially if he has recovered after the fall at the Flèche Wallonne. His team will also be able to count on Giulio Ciccone and Thibau Nys.
Among the outsiders to keep an eye on are big names like Tom Pidcock, Ben Healy, Santiago Buitrago and Tiesj Benoot.
