Annemiek Van Vleuten won the second stage of the women's Giro d'Italia, the 102km Bagno a Ripoli-Marradi. The outgoing champion of the pink race, wearing the leader's jersey of the general classification, preceded Cecilie Ludwig and Juliette Labous at the finish line, separated by 45 seconds.

Elisa Longo Borghini, Erica Magnaldi, Marta Cavalli and Gaia Realini also arrived in the small group behind the Dutch Movistar.
