Very bad crash for Gino Mader in the descent of the Abulapass during the fifth stage of the Tour of Switzerland. The 26-year-old from Bahrain-Victorius was traveling between 80 and 100 km/h when he crashed.
The release of the Swiss race states that the rescuers found Mader, unconscious, in a stream located several meters below the road. The Swiss rider was revived on the spot and transported by helicopter to Samedan hospital; his conditions are critical, but stable at the moment.
Magnus Sheffield was involved in the fall, in a less serious way: he too was transported to hospital with a shoulder wound and a brain concussion.
Further news on the health of both riders is awaited, obviously hoping it will be positive.
