The Belgian champion of Visma-Lease a Bike will close 2025 with the Super 8 Classic after an intense season with two Grand Tours

Belgian champion Wout van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) has officially decided to skip both the European Championships and the World Championships , ending his 2025 season with the Deutschland Tour and four one-day races.

Van Aert, who has already competed in two Grand Tours this year ( Giro d'Italia and Tour de France ), was a doubt for the World Championships in Rwanda , but it is now confirmed that he will not participate, choosing to end the season at the Super 8 Classic in Belgium on September 20.

Before then, his schedule includes:

- Deutschland Tour (20-24 August)

- Bretagne Classic (August 31)

- Quebec GP (12 September)

- GP de Montréal (14 September)

"It's important to still set some significant goals for the final part of the season, and with this schedule we've certainly achieved that," Van Aert explained. "At the same time, after such an intense season, it's crucial not to overdo it. That's why we decided to end my season after the Super 8 Classic, skipping both the World Championships and the European Championships."

The Belgian rider competed in four consecutive Grand Tours in the space of 12 months, taking stage victories in three of them, including stage 21 of the last Tour de France. 2025 was a year of success for Van Aert, who shone in both the spring Classics and the Tour, capping it all off with his first participation in the Giro d'Italia.

"It's been a great year, with important goals coming together quickly," he commented. "As in most years, the spring Classics and the Tour de France were my main goals. I'm also happy to have finally been able to experience the Giro d'Italia. This variety—the same reason I rode the Vuelta for the first time last year—is something I need and find very motivating."
