Field your team in the World Championship League

Just a few more hours and then the answer will come: who will be the 2024 world champion? The World Championships conclude on Sunday 29 September with the professional road race on the Zurich circuit in Switzerland, for a total of 273.9 km and a difference in altitude of 4,500 metres. There has been much talk about the route and who it might be best suited to, although much will depend on the weather conditions and the interpretation of the riders.

After an initial flat section, where you will have to tackle some steep climbs such as the Buch am Irchel climb (4.8 km at 4.2 with peaks of 7 percent), the Kyburg (1.3 km at 10.2%) and Binz (1.8 km at 7.5% with peaks of 12 percent), you will enter the 27 km circuit to be covered seven times. Inside the Zürichbergstrasse (1.1 km at 8%, max. 15%) and the Witikon climb (2.3 km at 5.7%, max. 9%). The last ramp will end at -7 km from the finish line.

In reminding you to line up your team for the Lega World Championship (you have 225 fantamillions available) to win the magnificent Fantacycling gifts, let's discover the possible protagonists. On such a challenging circuit, the first two names to mark in the book of favorites are Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel , coming off an extraordinary season. The first is looking for a hat trick after the successes of the Giro and Tour (in addition to Liege, Strade Bianche, Catalunya and Montreal), the second will try to do the double after the double Olympic gold and the victory of the world time trial last Sunday. For Pogacar, Slovenia presents itself with a quality team, even if Primoz Roglic's physical conditions do not seem to be the best.

Belgium, without Wout Van Aert, will instead be able to count on top-notch domestiques such as Tim Wellens, Tiesj Benoot and Maxim Van Gils. So will it be a duel between Pogi and Remco or will someone manage to get in? Let's try to find out in the next news.
