Joao Almeida won the sixth and final stage of the Itzulia, the Tour of the Basque Country, starting and finishing in Eibar after 153.4 km.

A lively stage with many mountain grand prix, rain and a battle for the podium. A breakaway from afar caught by the best 40 km from the finish line. Only Ben Healy resists, joined by Enric Mas, Joao Almeida and Isaac Del Toro. While behind them, Florian Lipowitz and then Mattias Skjelmose fall, losing out on the podium.

In the end, it was Almeida, who remained with Mas to fight for the stage, who won the final stage and the general classification, despite the Spaniard's dramatic request to let him take the day's victory.
