First stage of the Itzulia women , a short stage race in the Basque Country. It goes from Etxebarria to Markina-Xemein for a total of 122.2 km all under a heavy rain. Many athletes try to break away in the first part of the race, only Kiesenhofer and Nerlo succeed, but they are caught again less than 15 km from the finish. At the beginning of the Urkaregi climb Demi Vollering tries , the reigning champion immediately manages to detach all her rivals; a quartet formed by Van Vleuten, Reusser, Niewiadoma and Baril launches in pursuit of him   which accuses 50” of delay at the brow. Vollering launches towards victory in the downhill managing to maintain his advantage and arrives alone on the finish line of Markina-Xemein. Behind him come Reusser at 47", Niewiadoma at 49" and Van Vleuten and Baril at 51". Paladin, best Italian, finishes eighth at 1'35".
