The Welshman will stop at the end of 2025: here's where he will race
At 38, Geraint Thomas has made up his mind: he will leave cycling at the end of 2025, after 18 years of racing between Barloworld and Ineos, with whom he won a Tour de France when it was still Team Sky.
Speaking to his teammate Michal Kwiatkowski during the training camp, Thomas said his 2025 will be focused on stage racing, starting with the Tour Down Under.
"For me it's the best starting point, you have a month or five weeks down there with constant training and good weather: it's ideal. Then - he explained - I think I'll do the Algarve, Tirreno-Adriatico, and Catalonia".
No intention, however, of returning to one-day races, especially on cobblestones. "The classics are too crazy for me now, I think," he said, "you have to be ready to fall. I'm not sure I want all that anymore."
