The Danish champion had fallen yesterday during the fifth stage and appeared visibly suffering with injuries to his face and problems with a hand. Vingegaard had nevertheless managed to reach the finish line, but 26" behind Lenny Martinez.

Fortunately, the tests carried out this evening had ruled out fractures or other complications, but, as a precaution, the Dutch team decided not to allow Vingegaard to continue his race towards the sun, who will now observe a period of rest to recover from the accident.
