Maxim Van Gils wins the sixth stage of the Tour Auvergne Rhone Alpes, from Saint-Vulbas to Crest-Voland (182.3km).
In this race, breakaways are king, and today as many as 60 riders went on the attack, gaining an advantage as the kilometres went by.
Before the final climb, in fact, the leaders have a good 5' margin on the yellow jersey group.
In the final, toughest 6 kilometers, Steinhauser takes the lead, followed by Johannessen, Van Gils, and Torres. The EF rider breaks away, leaving the other three at the front, while Netcompany and Decathlon push the pace in the peloton.
Van Gils sprints to win the stage, beating Johannessen ; Tuckwell finishes third and takes the yellow jersey.
In the battle between the big names, Seixas attacks and only Del Toro manages to stay with the Frenchman, with Jorgenson the last to give up.
Baudin sinks and loses his jersey, with him Vauquelin, while the Lidl duo Ayuso-Skjelmose, as well as Nordhagen, are saved.
