Hofstetter and Bauhaus defeated
Wout Van Aert (Team Visma Lease a Bike) wins the fifth stage of the Tour Auvergne Rhone Alpes, from Saint-Chamond to Parc des Oiseaux Villars-les-Dombes (195.8km).
Today the breakaway managed to escape immediately and gained a couple of minutes' advantage over the group, with Reinderink, Guernalec, Arriolabengoa, Dhondt, Houle and Engelhardt leading the race.
Today the sprinters' teams absolutely did not want to make any mistakes and joined forces, managing to close in on the breakaway with 16 km to go.
In the final kilometers, it was mainly Cofidis and Visma who worked at the head of the group.
Visma led the pack in the final kilometers, with Affini perfectly launching Van Aert , who won clearly. Hofstetter and Bauhaus made it onto the stage podium.
Baudin still holds the overall lead; tomorrow the climbs begin with the tough summit finish at Crest Volland.
